Inorder tograsp the situation ofresidentialenergyconsumption inthesecities, acertainnumber of households were May 2007 toMay 2008,two relevant questionnaires onthebuilding construction,usage ofchiefenergy consumption equipments,living habits,indoor thermalenvironment andquality of air aswellasusage ofenergyconsumption were separately executed insummer and winter and thedatacollections on monthly electricity,gas and tap waterconsumption lasting for one year were alsocarried out on resultsofsurveys show thatthepotential ofenergy saving islarge and thedifferenceof residential energy consumption among cities isoutstanding,mainly influenced by thedifference among zones and lifepatterns factorsto influence household energyconsumption ,amount andage offamily member and theway tocool have outstanding effect onenergyconsumption,while theage and effectivearea ofbuilding have less one on Aiming specially at residential buildings inBeij ing,two representative households were selected for one·year detailed measure on terminal energy consumption and indoorand outdoor thermal andhumidity environment on December results ofmeasure show thatairconditioning and heating occupies the largest share
