《老北京》记叙了清代晚期北京的人文风俗，小贩、脚夫、算命先生、剃头匠、闲人忙人、商户平民，街头巷尾的趣事、娶媳妇的欢欣、回娘家的喜悦……一段老北京的历史生动地重现在我们眼前。
平面竹编是青神竹编的特色，《老北京》是特色之中的精品，因此它的编织、材料、工艺、制作都更为考究，每根竹丝都经过几十道工序完成。它以青神最优质的慈竹为料，经刮青、启蔑、分层、煮染、清洗、烘烤、分色、去毛等20多道工序，制成薄如蝉翼、细如发丝、不腐不蛀、永不褪色的竹丝，再在竹丝上上色，用挑、压、破、拼等竹编绝技精编而成，是陈云华带着三名弟子历时一年才完成的巨作。
