•中国收音机博物馆和商业文化博物馆分别成为国内首家同类型的博物馆。孙中山故居纪念馆在国内同行中率先引入ISO9001：2000的管理体系规范馆务工作，荣获“国家首批一级博物馆”、“全国精神文明建设先进单位”等多项荣誉。市图书馆在全省图书馆中率先引入ISO9001：2000的管理体系规范馆务工作，藏书达80多万册，成功升级为国家一级公共图书馆。2008年2月1日，市图书馆首个分馆长洲分馆及汽车流动图书馆正式投入使用。至今，流动图书馆已经覆盖了5个镇区，在各镇区及偏远村设有图书借阅点50多个，建成农家书屋（社区文化室）185间。市群艺馆于2008年获国家文化部颁发的“国家一级文化馆”称号。
2、文艺创作和推广工作硕果累累
我市坚持精品战略，积极推动群众艺术创作，重点抓好了戏剧、音乐、美术、摄影、少儿艺术等艺术门类的创作，艺术佳作不断涌现。近几年，获得全国性奖项逾50个，曾摘取“曹禺文学奖”、“群星奖”、“蒲公英奖”、“小梅花奖”、

“中国音乐金钟奖”、“鲁迅文学奖”、等全国、全省奖项的桂冠；其中，歌曲《正正堂堂》在省纪委反腐倡廉歌曲评选中获得银奖，并作为我省代表作选送到中纪委参加全国反腐倡廉歌曲评选；《神话中国》组曲之一《女娲补天》获中国音乐最高奖项金钟奖；中山本土画家原创美术作品《清气图》获得2008奥林匹克美术大会银牌奖；在省委宣传部“纪念改革开放三十周年征歌活动”中，中山原创新咸水歌《沧海桑田》和《金斗湾》获金奖。
