performed after operation. The retention rate of the sealant and the prevalence of dental caries were compared between the
2 groups after surgery, and quality of life of the 2 groups was evaluated. Results There were no signifi cant differences
in the complete retention rate and partial retention rate of the sealant between the 2 groups at 1 month and 3 months
after surgery (P>). The complete retention rate of the study group was signifi cantly higher than that of the control group
at 6 months after surgery (P<), but there was no signifi cant difference in partial retention rate (P>). There was no
signifi cant difference in the prevalence of dental caries 6 months and 1 year after operation between the two groups (P>).
Quality of life scores of the study group were signifi cantly higher than those of the control group at 6 months and 1 year after
surgery (P<). Conclusion Both light-cured fl owable resin and traditional pit and fi ssure sealant can be used to prevent
dental caries. However, the former has more advantages because it can signifi cantly increase the retention rate of pit and fi ssure
sealant and improve quality of life of children.
