Abstract: T he columns in capillary e lectrochrom atography can be class ified into three classes:
open tubular, packed and monolithic columns. The monolithic columns can be divided into
three categories: organic polymer-based m onolithic columns m ade from the polymerization of
acrylam ide, styrene, acrylate or methacrylate monomers, silica-based monolithic columns gen-
erally prepared by using so-l ge l technology, and packed particulate-based monolithic columns.
