Abstract
In this paper, we try to understand the role of knowledge management in fostering a synergistic symbiosis between information
technology and managerial anizational cognition. Both information technology and knowledge management can be perceived
as strategic enablers of managerial anizational cognition. We synthesize classical cognition concepts and recent empirical
experience with knowledge management applications to develop anizational knowledge management model (aniza-
tional Cognition Spiral or OCS) and tool (anizational work or ) for understanding and supporting
managerial anizational cognition. 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
