    人像摄影中所说的调子，是影调与色调的统称。一幅照片上的阴暗变化，是影调的变化，它是由被摄者接受光线的多少以及他本身的反光率形成的。无论在黑白摄影或彩色摄影中，都有这种影调上的变化。比方，一件红色衣服，如果受到倒光的照射，衣服的受光面与非受光面就形成不同的影调，它们虽然都是红色的，但受光面的影调亮，非受光面的影调暗。这便是彩色画面中影调的变化。色调，是指色彩的变化而言，比方，照片是红楼的色调还是蓝青的色调，这是色彩上的差异。一幅人像摄影作品，如果它是黑白的，只有影调的变化，而没有色调的变化；倘假设它是彩色的，那么既有影调的变化，又有色调的变化。
