DNA是病毒复制和传染性的直接标志。定量方法对于判断病毒复制程度，传染性大小、抗病毒药物疗效等有重要意义。前C区变异可能与 重型肝炎发生有关。我国主要基因型为B和C型，基因分型对预后判断及抗病毒药物疗效等有一定意义，而基因耐药变异位点检测对核苷酸类似物抗病毒治疗有重要意义。
：极度乏力，严重消化道病症，神经、精神病症〔嗜睡、性格改变、烦躁不安、昏迷等〕，有明显出血现象，凝血酶原时间显著延长及凝血酶原活动度〔PTA〕＜40%。黄疸进行性加深，胆红素每天上升≥。可出现中毒性鼓肠，肝臭，肝肾综合症等。可见扑翼样震颤及病理反射，肝浊音界进行性缩小。
