    道路运输平安管理督查分为综合督查和专项督查，可采取听取汇报、查阅资料、查看现场、询问核查、随机抽检等方式进行。
    综合督查是上一级道路运输管理机构对下一级道路运输管理机构道路运输平安监管情况和对从事道路运输经营以及道路运输相关业务的平安生产状况的抽查。主要是抽查下级道路运输管理机构和从事道路运输经营以及道路运输相关业务的贯彻落实道路运输平安法律、法规、规章、方针、政策、标准、标准的情况，对平安违法违规行为的查处情况，对平安隐患排查治理情况等。
