Book Three Unit Two
The Freedomt the ethic heroes in American history, before the class, I’d like to introduce the slavery to all of you.
T: Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States, during his term of office; he led the civil war and abolished the slavery.
T: In the battle against slavery, not only did the president try his best to abolish this system, but also the people, especially the black people living in the South America try hard to fight for their own feat. Today, we will introduce some freedom givers in the American history. Before
the Civil War, a secret system was used in the US to help thousands of slaves to escape to the free northern states or Canada. The slaves were called “passengers”, the people who helped them were “conductors”, and the salves hid in “stations”(safe houses) along the way. And this passage will introduce three heroes escaping or helping others escaping by this Underground Railroad. Please turn to page 34.
