Abstract
Wuthering Heights is regarded as one of the most popular novels in English literature. Like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights is based on the Gothic tradition of the late eighteenth century. A style of literature that describes the supernatural conflict, crumbling ruins, weird imagery to create mystery and fear. In this book, there is a fantastic hero. The author describes the wild conflict and brutal revenge among the deep love, society and nature with true, plain local words. Wuthering Heights tells us the beauty of the human nature can defeat the ugly of human nature inevitably. They can’t eliminate love. Love is more powerful than hate. This paper mainly focuses on the deep love and deep revenge between the main characters. It analyzes the deep love between the hero-Heathcliff and the heroine-Catherine and their backgrounds, status and characters. It also tells us the destructiveness of a love that never changes.
