A chimpanzee (黑猩猩) is a primate (灵长类动物). This group includes tiny bush babies, monkeys, and humans. Full-grown chimps are 4 to 5feet tall. The males weigh about 100 pounds, while the females weigh 90 pounds or less. Chimpanzees have long fingers and toes (脚趾),and they are covered with dark fur except on their faces, which are very expressive.
Chimpanzee Habitat
Chimpanzees live in western and central Africa. Some chimps live in thick rain forests. Others live in thinner woodland.
Chimps usually walk on all four legs, but they can also walk upright. Chimps are good climbers and they can swing through trees. They usually sleep in trees at night.

Chimps live in groups, munities,which may contain up to 80 members. Within munity are many smaller groups of friends and family members. Young chimps stay with their mothers until they are about 8 years old.
Just like human beings who live and work in groups, some chips are more powerful than others. Getting a high position depends on more than size. Group leaders are usually strong-willed and clever.
