Hepatoprotective activities of wheat bran Se-polysaccharide

Abstract:In this study,in order to better understand the effects of selenium modification on the physiological
activity of wheat bran polysaccharide,apolysaccharide fraction named W2was isolated from wheat bran by
ultrasound assisted hot water extraction and DEAE Cellulose-52chromatography successively.The Se-en-
riched product SeW2-3 was obtained by using HNO3-Na2SeO3 method,and its hepatoprotective effect on
CCl4-induced mice acute liver injury was investigated.The results showed that compared with natural wheat
bran polysaccharide,wheat bran Se-polysaccharide SeW2-3has a stronger hepatoprotective activity.Com-
pared with the model control group,in the Se-polysaccharide groups,the activities of the aspartate amin-
otransferase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)in the serum of mice significantly decreased,the ac-
tivities of the superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)and catalase(CAT)in the liver
