文档介绍:Chinese-Specific Words and Their Translation Chapter 1:Introduction W ith the overall development of the Chinese economy, new things and new phenomena appear constantly, especially showed in the politics, economy, science and social life. ordingly, a large number of rich and special words emerge. Chinese culture-loaded words are ing increasingly important , refer ring to the uniqueness of Chinese items, and of course, contain the connotation of Chinese culture. Chen Yuan has ever pointed that any new things in social life, such as new systems, new structures, new ideas and new concepts do everything possible tobe manifested in the language. If they donot show up, they cannot play municative role in social life. W ords are the miniature of changing times and social progress and they are the clear mirrors of social development. Chinese-specific words are native and their continuous emergence is the result of China ’s social development and progress. 1 The Chinese -s pecific w ords and t heir t ranslation s have made some great achievements. Some journals open up columns to publish the translation of political and economic words, in which there are considerable Chinese-specific words and their translation. The website of China Daily also opens upa column of words with latest translations, e specially providing the corresponding translation ofhot words. The new C/E piled are impressive. There are rich entries in these dictionaries, including the new Chinese-specific words and the loanwords which have entered China ’s society and e people ’monly used language. Recently, a series of lexical books on the translation of Chinese-specific words have been publi shed. With China ’s economic development, increasing international influence, as well as the continu ing expansion of foreign exchange, the reports on the political, economic and cultural aspects of China ’s society often appear in foreign newspapers and magazines.
