（四）自我教育功能。公寓社区是学生自我锻炼的平台。学生是公寓社区管理的主体，也是社区建设的主人。学生参与公寓社区管理，一方面可以唤起学生的主人翁意识，进而形成自我的责任感和对他人的责任心；另一方面可以培养学生的管理能力和社会交往能力，提高学生自身素质。
三、学生公寓社区管理工作基本原则与思路
（一）公寓社区管理工作的基本原则。1、坚持教育、管理和服务相结合的原则；2、坚持齐抓共管的原则。公寓社区管理工作要在校党政统一领导下，整合资源、分工合作，实现部门联动、形成合力育人的机制；3、以学生为中心的原则。要充分调动学生参与公寓社区管理的积极性和主动性，使学生自我教育、自我管理、自我服务的能力得到充分发展。
（二）公寓社区管理的工作思路
1、加强思想教育，增强学生思想政治教育工作的针对性和实效性。学院（部）领导及学生工作人员要经常深入公寓了解学生的学习、生活及思想情况，加强与学生的情感交流，贴近学生实际开展思想教育工作，将解决学生思想问题和实际问题结合起来，利用公寓社区优势开展以生命、生存、生活等“三生教育”，为学生办实事、做好事、解难事，促进学生健康成长。
2、加强组织建设，建立以公寓社区为核心的学生组织管理新模式。在最大限度的实现学院（部）相对集中居住条件下，各学院（部）要建立以公寓社区为核心的学生管理模式，学院（部）在公寓设立学生工作办公室（站），管理中心由原来的班级向学生社区转移，按照宿舍分布建立班级和党、团支部。学生公寓中心为各学院
