龋齿的病因：①口腔致龋菌群的作用；②蔗糖等适宜的细菌底物；③敏感的宿主；④在口腔滞留足够的时间。这是龋病病因的四联因素理论。
四环素牙初呈黄色，在阳光照射下呈现明亮的黄色荧光，以后逐渐由黄色变成棕褐色或深灰色。四环素还可在母体通过胎盘引起乳牙着色。前牙比后牙着色明显，乳牙比恒牙着色明显。四环素牙对牙的影响主要是着色，有时也合并釉质发育不全。
牙隐裂临床表现：表浅常无明显症状，较深时则遇冷热刺激敏感，或有咬合不适感。深达牙本质者，多有慢性牙髓炎症状，有时也可急性发作，并出现定点性咀嚼剧痛。
急性牙髓炎临床特点是发病急，疼痛剧烈。临床表现：①疼痛剧烈，疼痛性质具有下列特点：自发性阵痛；夜间疼痛加剧；温度刺激疼痛加剧；疼痛不能定位。②患牙可查及极近髓腔的深龋、填充物、深牙周袋或外伤等。③探诊常可引起剧烈疼痛，有时可探及微小穿髓孔。④温度测验时，患牙的反应极其敏感。⑤处于晚期炎症的患牙，可出现垂直方向的轻度叩痛。

逆行性牙髓炎的感染来源于患牙牙周病所致的深牙周袋。袋内的细菌及***通过根尖孔或侧、副根管逆行进入牙髓，引起根部牙髓的慢性炎症。
急性化脓性根尖周炎临床表现：①根尖脓肿；②骨膜下脓肿；③黏膜下脓肿。
应急处理：①开髓引流：急性牙髓炎、急性根尖周炎；②切开排脓；③安抚治疗；④调牙合；⑤消炎止痛。
慢性龈缘炎病因：牙菌斑是始动因子，其他如牙石、食物嵌塞、不良修复体等均可促使菌斑积聚，引发或加重牙龈的炎症。临床表现：病损局限于游离龈和龈乳头。牙龈变为鲜红或暗红色，炎性充血可波及附着龈。龈乳头圆钝肥大，点彩消失，表面光亮。牙龈轻触即出血。龈沟可加深达3cm以上，形成假性牙周袋。是否有附着丧失是区别牙龈炎和牙周炎的重要指征。
青春期龈炎是青春期内分泌特别是性激素的改变，可使牙龈组织对微量局部刺激产生明显的炎症反应。
