汇票是出票人的支付命令

例一：“Pay to C. Co. or order the sum of one thousand US dollars only.”
——简明有效的方式。
例二：“Ｐay to C Co. or order the sum of one thousand US dollars out of the proceeds in applicant’s account maintained with you.”(从申请人在你行的存款账户支付Ｃ公司或其指定人金额１０００美元整)
　　　　——无效，因为其中隐含着付款的条件，指定了特别的资金来源，要求从指定的账户中出钱，但被指定的账户中可能账上金额不足或是根本没钱。

例三：“Pay to C Co. or order the sum of one thousand US dollars and charge/debit the same to account of D Co. with you.”
——有效，因为这里的支付是无条件的，只是附带说明了支付后可借记的账户。

６、确定的金额。
“the sum of”后面接的就是大写金额。
1、指汇票的任何当事人按照汇票文义来计算都可以得到同样的结果。
2、汇票金额通常同时用大写（in words）和小写（in figures）记载
注意:大写必须以“ONLY”结尾
