Transcriptome Sequencing and Analysis of Pteridium aquilinum

Abstract Transcriptome sequencing was performed on the edible stem (NJ) and curled leaves (JY) and the old
stem (LJ) and old leaves (LY) samples in the inedible period from Pteridium aquilinum based on Illumina HiSeq
platform. A total of Gb data were obtained by RNA-Seq to the four samples (NJ, JY, LJ, LY) of Pteridium
aquilinum, and assembled into 76 427 unigenes with an average length of 1 013 bp. 42 177 (%) unigenes were
annotated in Nr, Nt, Swissprot, KEGG, KOG,Interpro and GO databases. 133 unigenes related to the terpenoids
were identified, mainly participated in the biosynthesis pathways of terpenoid backbone, monoterpenes,
sesquiterpenes, diterpenes and triterpenes. Among them, there are 47 differentially expressed genes in NJ-JY, 35
differentially expressed genes in NJ-LJ, and 43 differentially expressed genes in NJ-LY. It provides the basis for the
exploration of functional genes, main active components, natural toxins and other biosynthesis and metabolic
regulation molecular mechanisms of bracken.
