英语新闻语篇的文体特征和文体效果的象似性研究

摘要
认知语言学中的象似性理论主要讨论语言形式和意义之间的对照关系,理解语言
符号的深层含义对我们有很大帮助,并且在揭示语言与认知之间的关系有重要价值。有
关文体学的学科研究已经证明用语言的象似性研究是获得文体效果的重要途径之一。
本文通过运用象似性原则来分析英语新闻试图发现语言形式与所要表达的意义之
间的理据。本文所选用的新闻例子均选自 2004 到 2008 年间美国比较重要的报纸:美国
华盛顿邮报、纽约时报以及今日美国。
本文共包含五个章节。第一章节是对本研究的介绍,主要说明本次研究的目的以
及重要性。第二章节是对之前相关研究的回顾。第三章主要介绍本文所依据的海曼的象
似性原则进行了回顾。第四章节为主体部分,主要运用象似性原则来分析英语新闻的文
体特征。这一部分涉及四个象似性原则:距离象似性、顺序象似性、数量象似性以及标
记象似性。最后一个章节对第四章节的分析进行总结,说明象似性原则的确可以帮助读
者更好地理解英语新闻中的深层含义,并且指出本研究的不足以及未来的发展。
通过此次研究发现,英语新闻的语言形式与要表达的意义之间确实有理据可依。
同时英语新闻文体特征可以通过象似性原则来解释,用来帮助读者理解深层意义和引起
英语学习者对英语新闻的学习兴趣, 并且对英语新闻的翻译也有一定的帮助。

Abstract
Theory of iconicity in cognitive linguistics probes primarily into the juxtaposed
relationship between linguistic signs and their meanings. It is of great value for us to get a
further understanding of the essence of linguistic signs, playing a key role in unveiling the
connection between language and cognition. Interdisciplinary studies related to stylistics have
proved that iconicity of linguistic signs is an important approach to stylistic features and
effects.
This thesis studies the use of the principle of iconicity in the understanding of English
newspapers trying to dig out the motivation between form and meaning. The data for this
study are mainly the reports issued in the most influential US newspapers issued from 2004 to
2008: The Washington Post, The York Times and The USA Today.
This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, stating the
questions that the study is to probe into and the importance of the present study. The second
chapter is a brief review of relevant literature. The third chapter introduces Haiman’s theory
as the framework of the present study and summarizing the past relevant studies. The fourth
chapter analyzes some texts, trying to prove that the form
