The paper analyzes the consumption structure of Chinese urban residents in 2009. According to the present conditions of the consumption structure of Chinese urban residents, it discusses from three aspects. First, it analyzes the factors that influence the consumption structure of Chinese urban residents, it provides good basis for promoting the rationalization of the consumption structure. Second, it analyzes the consumption structure of Chinese urban residents by using the e*tended linear e*penditure model, and it classifies the provinces of China according to the consumption structure by using cluster analysis. And the problems in the consumption structure can be learned. Last, it proposes some standards about the rationalization of the consumption structure, and it proposes some countermeasures that could promote the rationalization of the consumption structure.
