Research progress on type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with depression

Abstract: Type 2 diabetes is an endocrine and metabolic disease. Depression caused by complex
conditions can cause serious harm to the physical and mental health of patients. Studies have
found that the pathogenesis of comorbid depression in diabetes is mostly related to hippocampal
damage, HPA axis damage, 5 - HT dysfunction, and abnormal neurotrophic factors. At the same time,
inflammatory activation is also involved in the occurrence and development of comorbid depression
in diabetes. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that depression belongs to the category of
depression syndrome. Due to emotional disorder, liver dysfunction, qi stagnation, and phlegm-qi
