Introduction
Toxoplasmagondiiisanobligateintracellularprotozoaparasitethatcaninfectavarietyofcelltypesfromawiderangeofmammalsandbirdsthroughouttheworld,includinghumansandnonhumanprimates(Jacobsetal.,1998).,theprimaryinfectionduringpregnancyinwomenandanimalsmaycauseabortion,fetalabnormalitiesorprenataldeath(Cooketal.,2000).Moreimportantly,(MontoyaandLiesenfeld,2004).
Felidsplayacrucialroleintheepidemiologyofthisparasiticdisease,becausetheyaretheonlydefinitivehost,sheddingandexcretingmillionsofinfectiveoocystsinashortperiodoftime(Dubey,1994),.

Resultsanddiscussion
Inthisinvestigation,theELISAmethodwasutilizedduetotheeaseofitsapplication,anditshighsensitivityandspecificitywhencomparedwithothertestmethods(LappinandPowell,1991).Inthisstudy,206cats(,82weremale,85werefemaleand39unknownsex(Table1).AsshowninTable1,%.%%inhouseholdcats(Table1),%%indifferentagegroups(Table2).

Inthepresentinvestigation,,theseroprevalenceofinfectioninstraycats(%)wassignificantlyhigher(p<)thanthatofhouseholdcats(%).ThisiscomparabletotheresultsofHaddadzadehetal.(2006),whichshowedasignificantdifferencebetweenstrays(aseroprevalenceof90%)andhouseholdcats(36%)inTehran,.(2003)alsofoundsignificantdifferences,%instraycats,%inhouseholdcatsinBarcelona,,andtheirdietincludswildbirds,rodents,andToxoplasma-infectedplacentasandstillbornfetuses(Frenkel
1990;).However,studiesdoneintheUnitedStatesdidnotshowsignificantdifferencesbetweenhouseholdcatsandstraycats(Hilletal.,2000;DeFeoetal.,2002).
,SumnerandAckland(1999)tested103serumsamplesfromdomesticcatsinMelbourne,.(2006)(Table1),%(18of82),%(22of85),butthedifferencewasnotsignificant(p〉)(Table1).However,therewasasignificantlyhigherseroprevalenceinmalestraysthaninfemalesreportedbyMiroetal.(2004).
Amongstcatswhoseageswereknown,asignificantlyhigher(%)prevalenceofinfectionwasdetectedin>%incats<,seroprevalencevariesindifferentagegroups,%%.Thedifferenceinprevalencefoundwithrespecttoage(adultsversusjuveniles)coincideswithotherstudieswherehigherprevalenceisobservedintheadultgroupthaninthejuvenileone(Smithetal.,1992;Gaussetal.,2003),(Frenkel,1990;Hilletal.,2000).
