Rap(说唱音乐)
Rap music is one of the elements of hip-hop. The word “rap” means “to hit”. It became popular in the early 1900s in the meaning “to express orally”. Musicians spoke or chanted lyrics.

Country music(乡村音乐)
Country music originally started in the Southern United States. It has something from the traditional folk music, blues and some other old-time music. It developed quickly after the 1920s.

Jazz(爵士乐)
Jazz originated among African Americans around the early 1920s in New Orleans. It is an important part in the Western music, and it is a result of contributions of African Americans.

Blues(蓝调)
The birth of blues was on the Mississippi River in the early 1900s. In those days the slaves were free but life was still not easy. The musicians sang songs about their hard life. The songs were usually sad. So these songs were called blues. In 1914 . Handy, a black man, wrote the most famous blues song—The St. Louis Blues.
