Chapter 1 General Provisions
Article 1 this law is enacted for the purpose of protecting and improving living environment and ecological environment, preventing pollution and other public hazards, safeguarding human health and promoting the development of socialist modernization.
Second as mentioned in this Law refers to the environment, affect human survival and development of a variety of natural and artificially transformed natural factors, including atmosphere, water, ocean, land, minerals, forests, grasslands, wildlife, natural and cultural relics, natural reserves, scenic area, city and countryside etc..
The third law applies to the territory of People's Republic of China and other sea areas under the jurisdiction of the People's Republic of China.
Fourth environmental protection plans formulated by the state
must be incorporated into the plan for national economic and social development, the State adopts economic and technical policies and measures conducive to environmental protection, to coordinate the work of environmental protection with economic construction and social development.
The fifth state encourages the development of scientific education in environmental protection, strengthens the research and development of environmental protection science and technology, improves the level of environmental protection science and technology, and spreads the scientific knowledge of environmental protection.
