文档介绍:CELL TYPES OF LUNG CANCER
CLASSIFICATION OF LUNG CARCINOMA
AND IMPORTANT SUBTYPES
Preinvasive lesions(Atypical adenomatous hyperplasia-AAH)
Squamous cell carcinoma
Adenocarcinoma(Bronchioloaiveolar carcinoma)
Small cell carcinoma
Large cell carcinoma
Adenosquamous carcinoma
Carcinoma with pleomorphic, atoid, or atous
Carcinoid tumor
Carcinomas of salivary gland type
Atypical adenomatous
hyperplasia-AAH
bronchioloalveolar proliferation that resembles but does not meet the criteria for bronchioloalveolar carcinoma.
SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA
30% of lung cancer cases
Strongly associated with cigarette smoking
65% arise in main, lobar, or segmental bronchi:
Endobronchial mass
Bronchial obstruction
Infiltration of bronchial wall
Hilar mass
Atelectasis and mon
Cavitation mon
30% present as solitary nodule or mass:Metastasizes late
Relatively good prognosis
ADENOCARCINOMA
30%-35% of lung cancer cases (mon cell type)
Common in the upper lobes
Often appear spiculated
75% present as peripheral lung nodule
Early mon
BRONCHIOLOALVEOLAR CARCINOMA
Subtype of adenocarcinoma
characterized by lepidic growth
60% present as a solitary nodule or mass
Ill-defined nodule of ground-glass opacity
Air bronchograms and cystic areas
irregular and spiculated margin because of associated lung fibrosis
Excellent prognosis
40% appear as diffuse or patchy consolidation or nodules:
Lung consolidation due to mucus filling alveoli
Poor prognosis
