文档介绍：⑨硕士学位论文 MASTER’S THESIS 摘要埃德加·爱伦·坡(1809--1849)是19世纪美国著名作家,从1832年爱伦·坡发表第一篇短篇小说《梅岑格施泰因》直至1849年去世,他累计创作了60多部短篇小说,而对死亡的关注则贯穿了坡小说创作的始终。本文通过对爱伦·坡短篇小说的综合性考察,探讨死亡主题在爱伦·坡短篇小说中的表现以及其原因。小说中的死亡主题是本文研究的对象,故而本文将爱伦·坡的短篇小说作为一个整体进行研究,尽可能拥有丰富的文本资料,并从死亡的承担者——小说中的人物着手进行分析,力求梳理出不同小说中的人物所具有的相似死亡形式,并探究其原因所在。本文共分为三章:第一章关注最终步入死亡的主人公,以《黑猫》、《威廉·威尔逊》和《椭圆形画像》为例,分析其各自所代表的谋杀、自杀、病逝的原因,通过文本细读,证明理智的缺失、道德的缺失和爱的缺失分别是以上三种死亡的根本原因,并探讨以上几种缺失在推动死亡的过程中如何发生影响。第二章关注另外一种类型的主人公,他们身处死亡的重压之下,却最终生存了下来,可以说他们是有临界死亡经历的人,以《莫斯肯漩涡沉浮记》和《丽姬娅》为例,分析理智和意识的存在又是如何在逃离死亡的过程中发挥关键的作用。第三章提出爱伦·坡具有复杂的变动的死亡观这个观点,并从文学承继、人生经历等方面着手考察,力求更加全面对爱伦·坡的死亡观的成因进行分析。本文主要以小说人物为切入点,结合具体的文本分析,既以时间为横轴考察不同时期爱伦·坡在小说中所描述死亡的态度同异,又从表层文本现象向下纵深,尝试分析表层结构之下的深层结构对于死亡主题的构建有着何种意义。关键词:爱伦·坡死亡深层结构缺失存在 Abstract Edgar Allan Poe(January 19,1809一October 7,1849)was afamous American writer,Poe’S firstshortstory,“Metzengerstein”was published inl832,during theyears 1832 to1849,poe wrote more ,in spite ofthedifferent types of hisnovel.”death”is hismain essay willanalyze the structure ofthetheme and findmeaning inhisshortstories.
