The novel To Be Alive is a watershed in Yu Hua's creation life. The novel shows us the process of the death of a person and how difficult in his life. Moreover, it shows us an attitude to the process of facing death.  Living itself is difficult, to live itself must be hard to live. Because of that, you will find the profound meaning of life. Nothing is better than being alive, and nothing is more difficult than being alive for everyone.

Yu Hua, born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on April 3, 1960, was a modern writer in China. After graduating from secondary school in 1977, he entered the Beijing Lu Xun College of Liberal Arts for further education. And he started writing in ’s more, he has published a lot of novels since 1984. During the last decade, His novels To Be Alive and Chronicle of a Blood Merchant have been named as two of the top ten most influential books in China. In 2005, Hua achieved China Book Special Contribution Award.
