II. Situational Dialogs
Dialog 1
It's John’s first visit to Shanghai and he wants to visit a friend by subway. He’d like to know how to ride on the subway.
J=John M = Metro employee
J: Excuse me, could you help me figure out how to get to Luban Road Station from here?
Route
M: Sure... first, buy a ticket. Swipe the ticket at the turnstile and pass through it. Then walk downstairs to the platform.
J: How long would it take me to get there?
M: You’d better take the outer-circle train from here for only 5 stops, for about10 minutes. If you take the inner
one, it’ll take about 50 minutes.
J: I see. By the way, how do I leave the platform after getting off the train?
Route
M: That’s very easy. You insert the ticket into the slot at
the turnstile and then push through the turnstile to exit.
J: Thank you very much.
S: My pleasure. Remember, take the outer-circle.
