什么是材料?

①《Longman Dictionary》:
anything from which something is or may be made。
②《Oxford Advanced Learner’s English-Chinese Dictionary》:
that of which something can be made or which something is done。

Wikipedia(维基百科), the free encyclopedia:
Material is synonymous with substance, and is anything made of matter – hydrogen, air and water are all examples of materials. Sometimes the term "material" is used more narrowly to refer to substances ponents with certain physical properties that are used as inputs to production or manufacturing. In this sense, materials are the parts required to make something else, from buildings and art to stars puters.

第一节材料的定义
《辞海》定义可以总结为:经过人类劳动而取得的劳动对象称为原料,经过二次加工的原料称为材料。
经过人类劳动获得的、在进一步的加工过程中仍然保持原质的劳动对象称为材料。
材料的定义是“可以用来直接制造有用物件、构件或器件的物质”。

材料科学是从事对材料本质的发现、分析、认识、设计及控制方面的理论体系。
其目的在于揭示材料的行为,给予材料属性的描述或建立模型,以及解释组成结构与性能间的联系。
