Abstract
This thesis is a project report of a Chinese-English translation. The author translated the extracted texts
from a novella named “Yuqing”which is written by Bai Xianyong, a famous contemporary Taiwanese
writer. This thesis includes four parts: Introduction, research background, analysis of target language ,
problems and solutions. First of all, the author introduces the source text and the motivation and purpose of
translation; secondly, the author had under taken a full understanding of the whole source text by using the
Functional equivalence theory of Nida, also, the author analyzed the problems came up during translation.
