I. Goal of the Fellowships
奖学金设立宗旨

The mission of the SOM Foundation is to identify and nurture emerging talent by sponsoring prestigious
research awards and traveling study grants to students of Architecture, Design and Urban Design. The
China Prize is a (US) $10,000 travel fellowship that will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student
of Architecture or Urban Design in the People’s Republic of China. This fellowship encourages young
Chinese architects to broaden their cultural and aesthetic horizons through travel and study outside of their
country.    
SOM 基金会旨在甄选并培养在建筑、设计及城市规划学领域取得卓越成绩的学生,为他们提供丰厚的学术
研究及旅行奖学金。中国区奖学金总额一万美金,将授予在中华人民共和国境内学习建筑或城市规划学的本
科或硕士学生。该奖学金通过提供出国旅行学习的机会,拓宽中国年轻建筑师的文化和美学视野。

The winner is selected on the basis of this or her design portfolio and travel proposal.
通过参选者的设计作品集和旅行计划书遴选优胜者。

Similar awards given in the United States by the SOM Foundation are now an important measure of design
achievement among architecture students and the universities who sponsor them.
