A new study shows that people’s bodies act to the same food in very different ways.“Even if you give two people just the same diet(饮食),they won’t necessarily weigh the same.”says Kroner, director at the Weight Control Center at Columbia University Medical Center.
Good genes(基因)work think you eat the healthy diet, but you are still not happy with the way your body looks when you keep your healthy diet, that is because of your mom and says your gene decides your weight you try to change that weight, your body surely fights against it.

14、My grandfather is an eighty-year-old man. He always complains about how fast things have changed, and he often says that life used to be better.
Families aren’t families the way they used to be. A lot of families have broken down. If husband and wife have problems with their marri
age, they no longer stay together. And mothers used to stay at home and take care of their children, but now everyone is working. No one has time to look after children at home.
And the cars! No one walks any more: everyone drives. We used to walk five miles to school every day, even in winter. But now they don’t. And in school the children don’ t have to think any more. In math class, for example, we used to add, subtract, multiply and divide in our heads. Kids don’ t use their heads any more; instead, they use calculators(计算器).
Most families have computers now. In the past we didn’ t have computers. We didn’t even have lights. My mother used to spend all day cooking in the kitchen. But now nobody eats at home and cooks food any more.

15、As a kid, I read a story of a bird. It described a male bird which takes a lot of pain to build a house and the female bird takes care of the baby in it. When the baby bird learns to fly, the whole family flies off to a different place leaving behind the beautiful nest for other birds to grow their family in it. It made me confused(困惑的): How could they so easily give up their house built with so much effort?
One night, I got this dream. I was walking on the endless road with beautiful trees on the either side. Attracted by the greenery, I went on, then I saw a wonderful house. I explored the house. There was a sloping(斜的) roof which matched with the greenery around; the large central open yard reminded me of the activities that might have taken place there which felt lively even now. The small water body that kept the house cool added to the beauty of the house — of course, it was all dried up now. Such liveliness turns the house into a home. People say “THE HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS”, and now I felt it and was attracted deeply.
When I woke up from the dream, I was clear about everything. I realized what message my dream wanted to convey(传递) me. And years later, when I chose my career, I thought of the story of the bird and my dream, then I was sure what to do. I decided to choose architectureas my career. I wanted to do the same thing that the male bird in the story did, to take pain in building a beautiful house and let others stay in it. My dream comes true and the happiness that I gain now from this career is great.

C.what we need to do when we choose our career

16、There are seabirds as well as land-birds. The most ordinary seabird is the seagull. It has a white body. a white head, and a yellow beak. There is a spot of red at the very end of the beak. All gulls have very strong wings so that they can fly far out to sea. If a gull flies out too far, and is too tired to fly back to the shore, it does not get frightened, for it can sit and rest upon the waves. A seagull's wings do not get wet because all its feathers have a kind of oil over them, so that when the water gets on to the feathers it just runs off again. Seagulls can even sleep on the waves.
Seamen know a lot about seagulls and they never kill them. When the seagulls fly a long way out to sea, seamen say that it means fine weather is coming. When the seagulls stay near the shore, seamen say that there will be much wind and rain, and perhaps a storm, for the seagulls know more about the weather than seamen do.
1.What is the seagull?
A.A fish. B.A land-bird.
C.A seabird. D.An animal.
2.Why is every seagull able to fly far out to sea?
