Chapter 1英语数字的翻译
一、   数字等值翻译：
① a drop in the ocean       沧海一粟 ② within a stone‘s throw    一箭之遥 ③ kill two birds with one stone       一箭双雕
④ Two heads are better than one.

二、不等值翻译： 1. 数词构成的冠用语
① at sixes and sevens      乱七八糟 ② on second thoughts       再三考虑 ③ by ones and twos         两两地，零零落落地 ④ a few tenths of 十分之几；又几成
⑤ a hundred and one ways 千方百计
⑥ few minutes the women began to come in by ones and twos, pulling down the sleeves of their blouse.

2．以单数形式表达的不确定数字，一般表达范围

例如：one hundred dollars or less
不超过一百美元
less than one hundred dollars
under one hundred dollars 不到一百美元
below one hundred dollars

Chapter 2 英文中的颜色词 ——blue
中文中，“蓝色”常常是以褒义的形式出现，“蓝天白云”、“蓝色的大海”饱含着对大自然漂亮风景的赞美。
英语文化中，blue不仅表达颜色，并且表达不快乐的心情。
Mary failed to pass the examination and she was in a blue mood.
这里的“blue mood”当然不是“蓝色的情绪”，应译成：“玛丽考试不及格，因此很忧郁。
It was a blue Sunday and he had to go to work.
“blue Sunday”如译作“蓝色的星期天”就令人费解。对的译文是：“又是一种讨厌的星期天，他不得不加班。
青玉”不可译作“blue jade”，而是“gray jade”。

英语中也能找到与中文含义相对应的单词或词组: blacklist（黑名单）、black market（黑市）
但英语中的black在译成中文时并非所有时候都译成“黑”，除了 “black dress”译作“青衣”外，尚有black tea（浓茶）、等。
