VENICE (Reuters) - Egyptian film director Youssef Chahine still feels young at 81, and hopes he has another 10 years of film making left in him.
Chahine was reported to fall ill during the shooting of his latest movie “Heya Fawda”(“Chaos”), in competition at the Venice film festival, which led to doubt it could be his last.
Chahine told a press conference in Venice, “I am young. I am only 81 years old”. He spoke through a translator, “first of all, I never look at myself in the mirror; I think it's silly to do that and tell oneself that you are getting older.”
He reminded reporters that Portuguese film maker Manoel de Oliveira, who also has a film at the festival this year but not in the main competition, was still going strong despite being several years his senior.
Oliveira is widely known as the world's oldest active film director at 98. He has two pictures planned in 2010, according to online movie database .
“Thank God there are older people than me and they are still young, like Mr. Oliveira,” Chahine said. “Yesterday we met and he shook my hand very hard and almost crushed my fingers.”
“At 81, I am not old compared to him and I hope I can keep working for another 10 years. Old age is to let oneself become old. I believe that it is possible to meet people who are 20 years old who are older than me.”
46. Why was “Heya Fawda”thought to be Chahine’s last work?
A. He had been known to be in poor health. B. He fell ill while filming “Heya Fawda”.
C. 81 is too old an age for a film director. D. No other filming plan had been made.
47. What do we know about Oliveira from the text?
A. He remains active in film directing in his sixties.
B. He was present at a press conference in Venice.
C. He plans to make another two films in 2010.
D. He is a well-known film director from Egypt.
48﹡ Chahine mentioned Mr. Oliveira’s shaking his hands firmly to_______.
A. show Mr. Oliveira is in poor physical condition
B. indicate Mr. Oliveira is much stronger than he is
C. suggest they have been very good friends
D. prove Mr. Oliveira is energetic at the age of 98
49﹡ Which of the following would be the best title?
A. Still Young at 81 B. An Ambitious Director

She is widely seen as proof that good looks can last forever. However, at nearly 500 years of age, time is catching up with the Mona Lisa.
The health of the famous picture, painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1505, is getting worse by the year, according to the Louvre Museum (卢浮宫博物馆) where it is housed.
“The thin, wooden panel on which the Mona Lisa is painted in oil has changed shape since experts checked it two years ago,” the museum said. Visitors have noticed the changes but repairing the world’s most famous painting is not easy. Experts are not sure about the materials the Italian artist used and their current chemical state.
Nearly 6 million people go to see the Mona Lisa every year, many attracted by the mystery of her smile. “It is very interesting that when you’re not looking at her, she seems to be smiling, and then you look at her and she stops,” said Professor Margaret Livingstone of Harvard University. “It’s because direct vision (视觉) is excellent at picking up detail, but less suited to looking at shadows. Da Vinci painted the smile in shadows.”
However, the actual history of the Mona Lisa is just as mysterious as the smile. Da Vinci himself loved it so much that he always carried it with him, until it was eventually sold to France’s King Francis I in 1519.
In 1911, the painting was stolen from the Louvre by a former employee, who took it out of the museum hidden under his coat. He said he planned to return it to Italy. The painting was sent back to France two years later.
During World War Ⅱ, French hid the painting in small towns to keep it out of the hands of German forces.
Like many old ladies, the Mona Lisa has some interesting stories to
