Silver staining
(3)myelinated nerve 有髓神经纤维 HE NO. 27-1,-2
(4)tactile corpuscle 触觉小体 HE
(5)Lamella corpuscle 环层小体 HE
(6)spinal ganglia.
Low porwer of Spinal cord
Gray matter
灰质
White matter

This specimen is elliptic in shape. In the center of it there is an H shaped structure, the gray matter, stained thicker horns are anterior horns.
Anterior horns前角
Posterior horn 后角
Low porwer(10Χ):The multipolar neurons can be found in the anterior horns of the gray matter. The cell bodies can be round or ovoid. The other smaller and round nucleus are the nucleus of glial cell.
white matter
gray matter
motor neuron
High power (40Χ) :The nucleus of multipolar neurons is large, round, palely stained, centrally located and with a prominent nucleolus. The cytoplasm contains many granular areas, the Nissl bodies, stained in dark blue color.
Nissl bodies
glial cell.
(Motor neurons)
(chromatin)
(nucleolus )
(nuclear membrane )
(axon)
(dendrite)
(hillock)
(multipolar neuron of spinal cord)
High power: Every multipolar neurons only have one axon and several dendrites.
Axon hillock is the marked site of origin of the axon. In axon hillock ,
the Nissle body is deficient.
Neuron contains abundant plexes and Nissl bodies, indicating active synthesis.
Nissl body:
RER
Free ribosome
Neurofibrils can be found in neurons when they are impregnated with silver. With low magnification, examine the anterior of the spinal cord, to identify the giant yellow or brown multipolar shift
