大英博物馆(The British Museum),成立于1753年。是世界上历史最悠久、规模最宏伟的综合性博物馆,也是世界上规模最大、最著名的博物馆之一。
大英博物馆和纽约的大都会艺术博物馆、巴黎的卢浮宫同列为世界三大博物馆。
大英博物馆包括埃及文物馆、希腊罗马文物馆、西亚文物馆、欧洲中世纪文物馆和东方艺术文物馆。
大英博物馆大中庭(Great Court)位于大英博物馆中心,于2000年12月建成并对外开放,目前是欧洲最大的有顶广场。广场的顶部是用1656块形状奇特的玻璃片组成的。广场中央为大英博物馆的阅览室,对公众开放。
