。麦哲伦是地圆学说的信奉者,他在1517年向葡萄牙统治者提出了环球航行计划,但并没有得到当时统治者的支持。而此时的西班牙国王为了获得更多财富,一心想着向更远的地方发展。于是,他支持麦哲伦进行航海探险,为麦哲伦筹备远航探险的船队以及一些用品。
