An Introduction to the Course
The key purposes to offer this course:
It is an extension of your writing work;
It is the summary, examination and deepening of what you have learned;
It is the preparation for your graduation thesis;
It is the high time to train you to have the ability to find problems, analyze them and find their solutions;
It is the necessary skill you have to master now and use in the future.
The general points to be taught in this course:
The general knowledge of academic papers;
The classifications of academic papers;
The characteristics of academic papers (both in morphology and syntax);
The necessary work before writing an academic paper;
The skills to write the outline, the first draft and revision work;
The skills to polish the titles and to write an abstract;
The required steps to list footnotes and references;
The skills to write the acknowledgement.
The main skills you will master after learning the course:
to ask questions;
to make a plan for finding the answer;
to distinguish between authoritative sources of information and those that are less reliable;
to scan information to efficiently select what is useful;
to manage large amounts of information;
to analyze information in light of the problem before you;
to make references from facts;
to assemble, integrate and synthesize information in a way that is responsive to your question;
to present your findings in a way that is attractive and consistent with accepted forms.
The necessary things you will have to do in and out of classes:
To take notes for the main contents(or guidelines)during class hours;
To get prepared for the project the teacher assigns;
To be active in class hours
To read the related books for the course;
