One good reason is “to prepare yourself for the workplace of the future”.
More and more businesses(商业,生意) are reducing(减少) management jobs and squeezing(挤,压缩,糅合) togeter the various layers of the corporate pyramid(金字塔,管理的各个层次).
This is being done to reduce costs and boost (vt提高)productivity(生产率).
As a result,the responsibilities of the remaining management positions are being broadened(宽泛的).
The essful manager will need to be much more of a team player who has the knowledge and ability to move not just vertically(垂直地) within anization but horizontally(水平地,横向地) as well.
Developing cross-functional(职务上的交叉) capabilities will be the rule(规定****惯),not the exception(例外).
Thus a mastery(掌握) of basic financial management skills is a key ingredient(因素) that will be required in the workplace of your not-too-distant future.
