When he was very young, he found his strong interest in the language English, his English name Jack Ma was given by an American tourist, Jack Ma learned English by himself, starting at age 12, Jack Ma woke up early to walk or ride a bicycle to
Hangzhou’s hotel so he could practice his English with foreign tourists. He offered free tour guide to show foreigners around and they taught him English for exchange. He did this for nine years.
Unlike many essful Chinese entrepreneurs, Jack Ma never studied in the US, and he had no status, money or connections, the only other way to get ahead in China was education, but he failed the college entrance exam twice. Finally, Ma made it into college on his third try and became an English teacher after graduation.
Jack Ma first experienced the in 1995 on a short trip to Seattle. He can remember searching for the word “beer” on Yahoo!. At that time, very slowly, come out the American beer,
Japanese beer and the German beer, but no Chinese beer, so he was very curious and typed ”China” puter, but no China, no data. Jack Ma came back to Hangzhou with just 1 dollar and said “ I want to do something called ”.
In 1995, he founded China Pages, which is widely believed to be China’s first -pany.
In 1999, 18 founders in Jack Ma’s apartment founded Alibaba to serve millions of small businesses, they hoped this platform can make it easy to do business anywhere
