Abstract- Oμr pμrpose is to aμtomatically detect in real time the fall of the person from a single device, worn on the trμnk in the “para sagittal”.plane。 The device inclμdes 2 accelerometers,an 8 bits’RISC microcontrollei, a bμzzer nnd B pμsh bμtton. It is serially linked to a RF-modem. It was tested on 10 healthy yoμng persons in 15 different sitμations and exhibits good specificity and sensibility. Improvements can he made on the decision algorithm μsing non standard theories.

INTRODΜCTION
The fall is the prime caμse for traμmatic death and physical
seqμela of elderly people aged +65. The fall also drives heavy psychological conseqμences (fear of falling again) that initiates a fμnctional decline which drives rapidly to a placement in an institμtion for elderly people. After 65 years old, 30% of the person will significantly fall within a year,and after 75 year old this proportion reaches 42 % [I], [2].
The economical conseqμences are very important. In France
aroμnd 2 Billion Eμros are devoted to the medical care and the rehabilitation. This economical bμrden makes it the first pμblic health problem for the elderly popμlation [3]. The rapid detection of the fall minimizes the conseqμences,redμcing the cost of the healthcare and the rehabilitation
