25 years ago, Chris Gander, the homeless man, to his son and his own beliefs, do all the things he can. From the bottom of life, he stepped towards ess and eventually became a famous investment expert. His story moved executive procucer -Kalama. Kalama immediately telephoned Gander, asked for right to adapt the story. When Smith read the script, he agreed to act immediately. Gander became the film consultant; his autobiography at the beginning of that year became a best seller. The story is true, of course, in order to render it touching, the film has made a lot of changes. The biggest change is that Gander’s one-year-old son has changed into a smart 5-year-old boy.

Adapt from a true biography
In 1981, in San Francisco,Chris Gardner(Will Smith)invests his family‘s savings in portable bone-density scanners(骨密度扫描仪)which he tries to demonstrate and sell to doctors. The investment proves to be a white elephant(沉重的负担) which financially breaks the family and as a result, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job.
