This paper investigates the most appropriate format to present material to be used in an introductory finance course for online delivery. Material prepared for the New Zealand Diploma in Business Business Finance course (203) was converted to a format suitable for online delivery. An ongoing diary was kept in order to record the process. A pilot study was conducted, in which five of pleted topics were evaluated anonymously, by students in a similar degree-level introductory finance course. The degree pleted a questionnaire evaluating the course on a number of criteria, including the course homepage, course structure and formative assessments. The pilot study results indicated that respondents were satisfied with the material evaluated.
Introduction
The development of material for online delivery is a time-consuming process and is not simply a matter of making existing course material available on the . Additional detail must be included in “lecture” material, as students do not have the benefit of verbal explanations given for clarification purposes. Solutions to problems requiring calculations must be laid out in detail, again due to the absence of the opportunity for verbal explanations. Instructions given about pleted on puter must be “recorded” in electronic form.
