Good morning , everybody , it is a great honor to stand here to give this presentation , firstly ,I’d like to say Merry Christmas to all of you in advance .
Today I want to talk about the Torch festival . The torch festival is an important and long-standing traditional festival of the Yi ethic group . It is celebrated on the 24th or 25th day of the sixth month of the yi calendar and it lasts for three days .
There is a beautiful legend about the festival , and the origin of the festival is said to have sth to do with the worship of the fire by their ancestors .
Many activities are involved in during the 3 days of celebration . the most attractive part of the festival is the Bonfire Party .
When night falls , dried pine wood will be erected and lighted up , and then the night would be as bright as the daytime .
At the same time , people would walk around the fields and houses , holding small torches and placing the torches in the field corners .
During the party , young men and young women would sing and dance around the big bonfire for a whole night . so it is also a good opportunity for young people to meet their prospective spouses .
There are also many other interesting activities during the festival , such as the cock fighting , bullfighting , horse racing and wrestling .
