Acknowledgements
This monograph is an outgrowth of the author I s essay "Applications
of hyperfunction theory to representations of semisimple Lie groups",
written in response to a prize question which was posed by the
University of Copenhagen for 1982. I am grateful to the University of
Copenhagen for the inspiration it gave me by awarding the essay a gold
medal.
