Abstract
In this study, the flow and temperature fields inside the chamber of a CTP machine, designed by AllRing Tech. Co., are analyzed by a CFD software STAR. The objective is first to find whether the chamber layout is appropriate to provide stable temperature field around the laser module and second to see if the particle dispersion problem can be properly controlled. The results include velocity vectors, temperature contours, and particle parcel trajectories at different sections of the chamber. It is found that the original design is capable to provide stable temperature field in the vicinity of the laser module but fails to adequately address the particle dispersion issue, which in turn could give rise to serious maintenance problem. Two modifications have been proposed to improve the control on the latter issue, and numerical simulation has indicated that the new proposal can effectively control the particle dispersion problem.
