为提高常德市生态城市绿化水平,通过阐述在园林绿化中推广应用乡土植物的重要意义,在充分调查了目前常德市乡土植物的应用现状基础之上,分析了乡土植物应用中存在的问题和产生的原因,有针对性地提出了推广应用乡土植物的6条建议。

乡土植物是指原产于本地区或通过长期引种、栽培和繁殖并证明了已经非常适应本地区的气候和生态环境并且生长良好的一类植物[1]。随着经济和城市的快速发展,人们认识到环境特别是居住环境和城市环境的重要性,也特别重视园林绿化。但在城市绿化的过程中,人们打破了植物在自然界的分布规律,大量的应用异地树种,片面地追求新、奇、特、异的景观,从而导致违背自然规律的后果:植物生长不良,达不到决策者和设计者的绿化效果。这又使人们反过来强调应用乡土植物。
目前,各地都普遍认识到应用乡土植物的重要性,但在实际实施过程又发现有很多困难,使得大多数地方推广应用乡土植物
