DOING QUALITATIVE RESEARCH IN EDUCATIONAL SETIINGS
Series Editor: Pat Sikes
The aim of this series is to provide a range of high quality introductory
research methods texts. Each volume focuses, critically, on one particular
methodology enabling a detailed yet accessible discussion. All of the con•
tributing authors are established researchers with substantial, practical
experience. While every book has its own unique style, each discusses the
historical background of the approach, epistemological issues and appro•
priate uses. They then go on to describe the operationalisation of the
approach in educational settings drawing upon specific and vivid examples
from the authors' own work. The intention is that readers e
away with a level of understanding that enables them to feel sufficiently con•
fident to undertake their own research as well as to critically evaluate other
accounts of research using the approach.
