Emily Brontë (1818--1848), novelist and poet, is one of the most famous representatives of the 19th century in English literature.
Born in Thornton, Yorkshire in 1818.

Never received formal education;
In 1847, Wuthering Heights, one of the great works of fiction in the English language, was published.
