Professor Sun Xiaoqing, who has provided me with valuable guidance in every stage of the
writing of this thesis. Without her enlightening instruction and friendly encouragement, I

Abstract
The translation materials of the thesis are excerpts of Legal English, with more than
10000 words. Legal English translation is one of the most difficult works in the field of
applied translation. English legal texts always use long sentences plex structures, the
confusing legal terms and a lot of old English and Latin language. So the translation of these
texts should be dealt with carefully. This thesis mainly reports the difficult points in the
process of translation, such as lexical features of legal English, syntactic features of legal
English and translation methods and principles. The author deeply realizes that it is necessary
